Sign-Ups…Every Spring, it seems the announcements we give on Sunday mornings are almost completely sign-ups and special offerings/fundraisers. This year is no different. We are preparing for Summer mission trips, children’s camp and youth camp. We are asking folks to sign up or step up to help send those that can go. Please don’t get weary of these announcements. Pray instead. Every time you hear one of those announcements pray the Lord will be glorified by each one who is willing to sign up. Pray the Lord will impress it upon the hearts of others to step up and give so that these kids, students, or adults will be able to participate in these efforts. Who knows…the Lord may show you how you can play a part. No matter what, we know the Lord is glorified by answering the prayers of His people. We know the Lord works mightily through our meager efforts in taking time to see the Lord at camp and also through short term mission trips that encourage our brothers and sisters to persevere in bearing witness to Christ!
Mission Canada: We are putting together a group to head to Okotoks, Alberta, June 16-23 to come alongside our North American Mission Board church planters, Nathan and Emily Taylor. Nathan and Emily have been living in Okotoks for the past couple of years, prayerfully laboring to establish a church. Nathan has been strengthening community relationships through his job as a nurse at a local hospital, while Emily has connected with moms and others in the community through the kids’ activities as a stay-at-home mom. The Lord has blessed them with a core group and a great community and support from Southwinds Church in Calgary. Their Bible study has transitioned into regular worship services as they inch ever closer to seeing Cornerstone Baptist Church become a reality. During our week in Calgary, we will be assisting with outreach by working a booth at a local kids festival, preparing and serving a meal to Nathan’s co-workers at the hospital, door to door outreach visitation, prayer walking, helping facilitate a Sunday service, and a women’s event. If you are interested in going on the trip or have questions, we will have a short meeting after the morning worship service on March 8.
Kids Mission Camp at Tall Timbers: Summer will be here before we know it! That means it is time to get those kiddos signed up for camp. We have a great time each year as kids engage in Bible studies, worship, missions workshops, and a host of other fun activities. This year we will once again be heading down to Tall Timbers at Woodworth, Louisiana, July 20-23. Kids who have finished grades 1-6 are eligible to attend, but students must have finished the third grade in order to go without a parent or grandparent. There is a sign up sheet in the back hallway of the sanctuary. A $50 deposit must be paid to secure your child’s spot. Please call the church office for more details! If you would like to sponsor a child going to camp, please call the church office and let us know.
Got an Extra Kidney? If you are a healthy adult, the truth is, you do. The Lord gave us a spare. One of our church members has recently had to begin dialysis and is a great candidate for a Kidney transplant. He has already begun the process of getting on the transplant list. If you would be willing to consider donating a kidney to a fellow church member or just want more information, contact the church office. We have a link to a website that will explain more about the process. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
